 Volkswagen Polo III - 99 1.4 fusty smell - zookeeper
ive got this fusty smell in the car, simple question...could it be the pollen filter? and can i get rid of it without replacing it with a new one, cant see the point of it to be honest i drive with the windows down most of the time anyway

yes it could be the pollen filter.

even with the windows down, air is still entering through the filter - change it.

Blocked heater plenum chamber drain (used to be common on Polos), or heater matrix has started leaking.
