Just after a forum opinion. I currently have a Mazda6 2.0d 143PS manual as some will know. It's always had a bit of a stiff gearbox when cold but when warmed up it's one of the best I've had to be honest.
Recently when changing gears it has started to 'baulk' if that's the right term. With the clutch all the way to the floor the gears can sometimes be felt grinding a bit. It went in for a service and for the clutch to be looked at earlier in July and they did their standard (1) replace transmission fluid and (2) adjust/bleed clutch.
It seemed better but now even when warm, sometimes when you go to change into gears 1, 2 and probably 3 the gearstick literally won't move more than half way and you have to force it the rest of the way. Then seconds later it might be fine again.
Back in today for its MOT and another look at the problem. Linkage checked as far as possible but nothing showing up wrong and it was behaving when they had it.
So the next step is probably take out the box, take it apart (a bit) and locate the problem. And then order parts if needed and then put it back together. So that's going to cost a bit then! Not me mind it's a company lease car.
If it was doing it all the time I'd say clutch but it's intermittent.
Any thoughts. When booking it in for the MOT and the latest attempt to diagnose the clutch I jokingly said it probably would be cheaper for all if this went back earlier and avoid the cost of the MOT, two front tyres, gearbox and the road fund licence in Oct. They didn't comment.
... shame it cannot go back early though. My Passat CC is sat in a compound nearby. But I'm trying to avoid stupid costs with this. Although on the other hand if they offload it as is, someone will buy a car with a gears problem.
