 Espace - won't turn over - wotspur
Went to use my Espace today - it would crank but not turn over - Mr AA came out and spent over an hour trying to fix without success - its now down the garage - whats the most likely reason.
Also when Mr AA gave me a lift to and back from the gargae - do you preoffer them a tip ? I didn't but felt like I should have

Aren't they the same?

Do you mean the starter motor turns but not the engine?
The starter motor tries to turn the engine over but can't?
The engine turns over but does not fire?

IJWS14 - ok when I turn the key to start the engine it just whirred and whirred -

someone mate mentioned that there are winter and summer diesels and it could be a blocked filter due to using the wrong type of diesel - (could be a total wind up knowing him)

Some info here, Winter diesel has been in use for months.

True, it is unlikely to be cold effecting the fuel, the UK isn't cold enough at the moment.

Does the engine turn over, or does just the starter turn? It's not clear, although if you're talking about filters, I assume the engine turns.

The OP says the AA man tinkered with the car for an hour without success, which indicates the problem is unlikely to be something simple.

Or at least, you hope that's what it indicates.

The majority of AA men we used to deal with were quite steady, but there were one or two nuggets.
