I'm driving a borrowed diesel Corolla at the moment while mine's in the garage. I've had it for 5 days. A couple of days ago I noticed that when I switched it off a noise like a jet plane landing would continue for several minutes. Today as I pulled up on the drive a very pleasant, aromatic smell invaded the cabin. Odd, I thought. When I got out there was smoke pouring from the bonnet, around the front left wheel.
I'm not going to start it again, I don't want to even look under the bonnet. I'm only worried that it's someone else's and whatever has happened, has happened on my watch. Any thoughts?

Its probably fitted with an auxilory heater. The exhaust exits from the behind the front left wheel.
The touran used to do this, stop at lights with a large cloud of smoke exiting from the front wheel area.
