 Vauxhall Corsa B - 97 1.4 Squeaky Windscreen Wipers - Miko
Help!!

I've recently got a new second hand Corsa, and I'm really enjoying driving it...except for the unbearable squeaky windscreen wipers - especially when it's raining!!

I had this problem on a previous car too, and replaced the windscreen wipers, but it still didn't help. Having checked the condition of my current wipers...there doesn't seem to be any damage or defect....

Is there anything else I can try??

Did you just replace the rubber blades?

If you did, then perhaps the carriers that holds the blades are worn.

Also, what make of blades did you buy?

change the blade assemblies. That includes the blade and the sprung carrier.

I'm guessing he's telling you to clean the windscreen with a potato. I thought this was however a trick to help stop your windscreen from freezing overnight during the frosty season.

No good looking at them, nothing to see. Just change them. Nothing wrong with the arms, just change the blade and carrier as one assembly

Are they genuine spares? I stopped buying copies just to save a few pence because of the problems they caused. I note that you had the same problem on a previous car.

I thought that'd confuse a few people! I meant for the OP to try rubbing half a potato along the wiper blade. Old wives' tale I know, but it must persist for a reason.

It could, of course, be down to the brand of screenwash being used. I've had squeaky wiper blades before which have been cured by changing to a different make of additive.

Has anyone suggested Rain-X yet...? ;-)

Couple of quid in the pound shop or only slightly dearer at Wilkos.

The latter worked fine in the lads Corsa B.

Funny enought that is what I was thinking of. Our car has the front screens done with this stuff (or similar) and I rather happen to like it.

juddering, smearing, squeaking, impossible to get off. It was never meant ot be used with mechanical wipers

What other types of wipers are there then? Can't recall ever seeing any electronic ones ;o)

I think he meant RainX works really well on his Gulfstream bizjet windscreen which doesn't have any wipers. ;-)
