SAAB 9-3 Convertible - 2007 SAAB Aero Battery problem - neiltoo
My 2007 SAAB is currently off the road. Battery was flat, and jump start would not get enough power to start, but gave a flicker of life. disconnected battery, as instructed by charger, and over 6 hours got to full charge. Car is now dead, even the key won't turn.
The manual shows a battery disconnect switch, but I can't find this on my car. There seems to be no other mention in the manual for reconnecting. Where do I go from Here?

Thanks in anticipation.

Neil

Have you checked battery is good, what voltage does it read? 12.7 would be good when it's been resting for a while.

Check the other end of the battery earth and the main fuse.

Is there an immobiliser?

With the battery connected, can you get anything to come on e.g. interior light, boot light, position lights? (Things that should work with ignition off).

With the battery charged and on the car, try a jump lead between the battery neg and the engine block or starter. Also put your volt meter between batt pos and engine block. Should get12V ish if earth ok.

There’s no battery disconnect switch on these. A lot of the electrics on these are similar to a Vauxhall vectra . I would say the battery is toast . Replace it.

A jump start from another car, with thick enough jump leads, and with the donor car's engine held at 3000rpm for ten seconds first, will definitely be enough to start your Saab. A jump start from an idling (or switched off) donor car will be unlikely to work. Be a bit brutal with it.
