Guys
Installed elsawin 3.7. When I come to use it, the vehicle type identification comes up.
It requires stuff from the vin and vehicle data sheet:
Sales model - Its a 9N30M4
Engine - its a BUD
Gearbox - its a JFM
Final drive - its a ???
I cant find the final drive code anywhere. Without it elsawin wont work.
Any clues?

In my Skoda and Golf the build codes lived in the spare wheel well.

Yeah
Same for the polo, and an exact duplicate is stuck in the service book. I can see all the codes, including the gearbox code, but cant find this blessed "final drive" code.

To ask another silly question today, what's elsawin ? That's a new one on me.

Its the VAG technical manual on DVD,

Out of interest, I Googled 'VW final drive' and guess what comes out top?
Zero's post, but the HJ version.
Say what you like about the pork pie hatted one, but his website still has the ear of the mighty Google, which must be a mighty advantage.
Back on topic, I've no idea, either, other than the obvious one of asking the manufacturer or a VW dealer.
Both known for their lack of customer service, if I recall.
Although I'd have thought the manufacturer should supply the code on the basis it's a piece of information, same as the chassis and engine number, which the owner is entitled to have.

problem bypassed. Turns out I dont need that final part of info. Finger problems, step by step guide for ELSA on youtube sorted me out.
Dont have a fine manual to read.
