The van's on 145k miles now. Since I bought it at 97k the clutch biting point has been very low down to the floor. It always crunches into reverse and is quite obstinate going into all forward gears. It hasn't got any worse in the 48000 miles that I've driven (in 9 months).
It appears the clutch slave cylinder is of the concentric type (i.e. integral with the release bearing in the middle of the clutch), with no possibility of bleeding it without removing the gearbox.
Any ideas for a quick fix? Tia

Try selecting one of the forward gears before engaging reverse. Had to do that on one of my previous Vauxhalls. Something to do with the reverse gears being straight cut and not always aligning up properly when meshing together which causes them to crunch.
