Nissan Qashqai+2 - 12 1.6 Wipers Staying On - maltrap

My son's Qashqai has developed an unusual fault. It's a petrol automatic.

When the car is turned off, the windscreen wipers come on, even when the key is removed and the wiper switch in the off position. The engine management light also comes on. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it which seemed to fix the problem and cleared the EML. Only for the problem to come back the next day. The car runs/drives normally. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

is the wiper switch in auto mode? try turning them into off to see if they stop.

most common issues are the rain sensor and the stalk switch. Dont let them lump you with a huge bill to change a control cpu

Is the scuttle area drain clear of leaves and other debris?

Not been unknown for water to flow where its not supposed to because the drains are blocked and subsequently get into the electronics inside the car.

nb, not Nissan specific. This applies to any car.
