 Nissan Micra - 04 1.4 Current drain - Zero
Neigbours 2004 K12 Micra is suffering current drain issues. New battery, flat in 48 hours.
Garage of course says "checked, no drain"

Anyone had similar and cured? Not got a meter on it yet, but i suspect that will reveal nothing, aiming to isolate sections of circuit by overnight fuse pulling.

HJ always advises to check the interior light and switching thereof.

He knows. Wily old geezer.

With a car of that age I'd be checking battery terminals and earth connections first, because finding a source of a battery drain can be a long drawn out affair, so eliminate the easy stuff.

Is it definitely a battery drain? Have you measured the battery voltage? How bright are the headlights if switched on after an overnight stop?

Am I teaching granny to suck eggs?

Trust me, its a current drain.

Does this car have keyless start?Check boot light operation. Pulling fuses is a bit of an issue on these,as most of the fuses are in the engine box. This requires releasing the bumper and left headlight. Not funny.

Yes I think it does, is that an issue?

tick done that, not checked glovebox light yet

It is an early form of keyless start, you still have to turn the ignition on at the keyswitch/lock ,although you don't need to insert the key.Make sure the ignition is in the "zero "position before exiting the car.In some cases the ignition will appear off,but the key is not fully zeroed.(if that makes sense)

Yes it has a kind of big silver rotary switch where the key would go. I'll check that out

If it's the original battery could it be knickered, knockered and knackered !

I refer the honourable gentleman to the first line in the first post.

Should have gone to Specsavers

Something at the back of my mind is saying Alternator & Diode. I think i might unplug that overnight.

Watch they don't overcharge you.

Did Zero find out what the problem was ?
 Nissan Micra - 04 1.4 Current drain - Zero
In experimenting phase. Told them to make sure the ignition is off, hands free fobs are away from the front of the house. So far it seems to be ok.

The "electric" power steering is now acting up. Connection?

with the flat battery I mean, not a connection to the steering (could be i guess tho)

It doesn't sound likely, but I'm no fan of coincidences.

Is the battery still dicking around? If so, you could pull the steering pump fuse when the car is left overnight.

I think you'll find electric power steering's sensitive to low battery voltage.

Dry solder joints also caused a number of problems on power steering on these IIRC: www.micra.org.uk/threads/k12-2004-power-steering-fix.23679/
