hello,
is there anyone who has knowledge of fitting a compact air horn to the above model.it is not possible to fit it through a normal relay i have been told by a mechanic it will need a reverse relay,i have no idea what that is?

How many wires attached to the horn, one or two?I have never heard of a reverse relay.
|
If, as you've claimed previously, you've only got 4.5V going to your existing horn, then you're going to need a relay that will operate at that voltage.
|
hi,how will that supply the 12 volts to the air horn compressor?

Something like this.

The main problem you've got though is that you need a +12 Volt feed to pin 86, and according to what you've said, you've only got an output of 4½ Volts from the original horn.
Now whether you can get a 4½ volt automotive relay, or something very close, that is also capable of handling the current drawn by the air horn, I've no idea.
Basically though when pin 86 sees a +ve, it operates the relay and links pin 30 and 87 together.
EDIT
The other thing to be careful of, is that some horns are wired up so that the switched feed is negative, not positive.
If this is the case for your car then you'll need to provide a +ve connection to pin 85 as well as one to pin 30. And pin 86 will have the -ve feed going to it from the horn.
You need to establish whether the single wire going to the existing horn has a +ve output or -ve output.

hi,there is just one wire to the horn

Presumably this (or any other) modification won't invalidate any remaining warranty on the car?
|
hi,well i did ask the garage where i bought the car and they said it might affect the warranty but i think they just are covering themselves but there must be a way of doing it without hurting the electrical system, what i really need is a top Toyota expert in the electrical system dont know where i can find this person

I'd suggest you leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.
If you do encounter any problems after it's done, you can be sure Toyota would say you've invalidated your warranty through unofficial modifications.
Unless, of course, you can fit it in such a way it and any evidence of its existence can be quickly removed should a main dealer stick their head under your bonnet. This can be easily done. How would I know that..................................................................
..?

Can't see this being a big problem if fitted correctly with a relay. What voltage is there at the horn when the horn button is pressed?Hybrid or not,all the auxiliary electrics work at 12volts.

OP has stated there's 4.5V at the horn. It's been surmised it's got CANBUS.
Another poster has added an extra horn to their '14 Yaris (by teeing off the existing horn supply) without problems.
|
The canbus is a communication network system that runs at around 2.5 volts. It is not able to operate a consumer directly. The horn push is possibly on the network that switches a signal to a controller, which in turn will operate the horn.A car this new may have the later Flexray system installed.Inspection of any label on the horn should give its working voltage.

hi,so what is the answer to fit a single 12 volt compressor with the compressor built in?
|
Sorry to be negative but based on your questions and answers its pretty clear you are not technically capable of specifying and fitting this yourself
If you want one pay some who knows what they are doing to fit it. At the moment all you are doing is jerking our chains

I would think a reverse relay is one that changes from "normally-closed" to "open"-but what good this would do,I cannot see.
|
oh well when i find the answer i will let all know
|
well that's what i want positive would be to tell me if you know someone not looking for negative answers
