LT28 Diesel van; left the lights on overnight last week and flattened the battery.
Recharged battery, van now starts/runs perfectly but the engine management light is flashing and won't go out.
I've tried the fairly obvious cure of disconnecting the battery, leaving it a few minutes and re-connecting, to no avail. Anyone got any suggestions please?
You will need to get a diagnostic equipt to plug in to see what is going on.Unfortunately,as this is an old vehicle, any xmas cracker scanner will not do the job.Probably best to find a friendly VW specialist with the right gear.

Its possible it will go out on its own after a few weeks / starts
>> I agree, so long as its running ok leave it and will most likely go

Worth a try. The Xantia's EML would come on for some oddity with turbo valves that amounted to no more than a 'gag' under acceleration. It went off again after a few normal starts.
The one on my Golf has been on for about 8 years now. Car runs fine, a piece of black insulation tape stops it annoying me, just gets an advisory each MOT.
