What do you reckon's going on here. The two pictures are the same tyre 180 degrees apart.
They're a pair of Avon ZV5 195/55x16 fitted to the front, driven wheels and done about 22K miles. There's about 3mm evenly over the rest of the tread on both tyres.
They outfit that fitted them had three attempts at balancing after I took them back a couple of times and I've always felt they were never quite right. I sometimes get a bit of shimmy on the steering wheel that comes and goes as if something's coming in and out of phase.
I've arranged to have them replaced tomorrow.

Tracking, balance, out of round tyre from new, wheel rim deformed, shock absorber worn or wear in suspension ball joints... or a combination of some/all.

The last pair of cheap ditchfinders on the front of SWMBO Corsa gave all the impression of tracking being out. New set of Michelins (Pilots because they were on special offer) are tracking perfectly after 3 years.
