I mind there was a generation of BMW alloys that split on the full internal circumference, literally wheel splitting in two - happened to my sister in law

My 10 year old X1 passed with flying colours, no advisories! I keep telling it the first time it lets me down its getting replaced by a Chinese EV and so far that threat seems to work!

So the 9 year old Beemer was coming up for its MOT. Been having trouble with ANPR camera situations where they were not reading my front plate. (Handy for tolls and speeding, not so trying to get put of a carpark) Its a bit faded, so I bought new plates (assuming it would fail an MOT). Went over the car checking the bits you should, and assumed the best

BOOM. FAIL DANGEROUS DEFECT DO NOT DRIVE.

Cracked alloy again. Garage, bless their little cotton socks, said bring it back early tomorrow morning, whereupon they whipped off the offending wheel, took off the tyre, took it to a nearby engineering works, got it welded, brought it back, fitted the tyre, pumped it up, issued the mot. In 5 hours! for the sum of £108!!!!!.
