The double-disc star ratchet design is offensively loud because the hub has 36 metal teeth which clack together every ten degrees of rotation. Ok technically, I am visiting Nice and noticed the Ironman was on. It’s the same thing really isn’t it? Anyway after the event saw a lot of competitors wheeling their bikes back and the sprocket was making a really loud clicking noise as they pushed their bikes. Far far louder than my own road bike on Shimano gears - anyone know why? Is it a completely different gear set ?
