Disappointed not to see a full EV version on the way. Looks an ideal vehicle to me otherwise, could be one of the very few competitors with the VW ID7 (i.e. a largeish, or D Segment, non-SUV EV with a hatchback opening).

>> In 2018 an new Dacia Duster cost from £9,995. Now they are £21,845.
>>
>> According to the Bank of England Inflation Calculator it should be £13,282.
>>

The 2018 Dacia base mofdel was the Essential - a very stripped down (but compliant with regulation) vehicle. This was discontinued due to lack of sales a few years ago. Compared to the current base model Journey which has:

- 10" media screen with navigation, android auto, apple, DAB etc
- 12v sockets, emergency call, wireless charger, USB connection
- blind spot warning, cruise control, front and rear sensors, multi view camera,
- alloy wheels, body colour bumpers, electric mirrors and windows, automatic lights
- reading lights, digital display, automatic air-con, central locking, boot lights
- split rear seats, adjustable steering wheel, stop start, keyless entry, stability control,
- Performance 10 vs 12sec 0-60, top speed 111 vs 107mph, torque 230 vs 156NM

We may all take issue with which additional features are now worth having and those we regard as unnecessary or frivolous. But they are not remotely comparable as cars.

It does illustrate, despite frequent calls for back to basics cars, they do not sell. Manufacturers struggle for profit on basic vehicles where success (if any) comes only to those seeking cost reductions often at the expense of reduced spec and lower quality.

I wonder whar Dacia will do about the Tiggo 4.
At a dealer near me. A Duster 1.8 hybrida auto £25.745
Tiggo 4 base £19995,00 or £2000 more for higher grade.
The Tiggo 7 for the same price as the Duster is a lot better equipped...

It's a shame the car inflation seems to be much higher than the underlying rate and it might go some way to explaining why the average age of cars on the road is nearer 10 years old up from 8 in 2019.

4 of my friends who live in Spain bought the last of the diesels, approx 18 months ago. I remember sharing a ride in one of them late September 2024 and it was showroom fresh..the old body shape.
When they are parked up side by side at a trail head, 3 different colours, it looks like a Dacia photo shoot.

It just a hybrid or are there other versions?

Thought about a Duster when we bought the Superb but they stopped doing diesels a while ago.

no idea how it came to my attention, but release date mid summer 2026.
Appears to be two engine options, both two and four wheel drive, no idea of model variants.
My friends who live in Spain, various nationalities who have taken out residencia, bought a number of the last diesel Dusters. I’ve covered several hundred kms in them, and for the money, they are fine. Shame diesel now costs more than gasolina..wasn’t the case until recently.

I could be interested in a Striker as a Vitara replacement, rather than Karoq 1.5 which was the odds on favourite.
