A bloke in the USA purchased a 1 year old Tesla 3.
He insured it 3rd party only (apparently an error).
He ran over some debris in the road and damaged a nozzle that connects coolant to the battery. The nozzle looks like the type of thing that you connect a hose to using a jubilee clip / garden hose connector.
Rather than repairing the nozzle, Tesla wanted to replace the whole battery! And Tesla wanted to keep the old one.
The guy went to a specialist who charged $700 to fix the nozzle.
Youtube video here.
Warning it's very American... www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVSw3KSevEc
(I heard a similar complaint re a high end hybrid Golf (GTI?) where the VW refused to provide a cut-off switch for the electric side of the engine to an independent mechanic.)
